Greetings from the Berwick Area YMCA. If you haven’t been by to see us lately, or if you’re one of those who has always been curious but hasn’t walked in the door yet, please accept an invitation to check us out.
Borrowing a phrase from an old commercial: “We’re not your grandfather’s YMCA.” Then again, we always have and always will adhere to our motto: For Youth Development; For Healthy Living; For Social Responsibility.Currently we are busy preparing for Summer Day Camp and our Summer YMCA programs.
Good news: There is still time to register your child or children for day camp which begins June 10. Contact Youth Director Megan Kiliti at 752-5981 or email@example.com for details.
Meanwhile, our Summer program sessions also begin June 10. Member registration opens May 20.
This Summer we are adding Pickleball to our programs. Pickleball is the fastest growing racquet sport in the country. According to the USA Pickleball Association: “Pickleball is a fun game that is played on a badminton court with the net lowered to 34 inches at the center. It is played with a perforated plastic baseball (similar to a whiffle ball) and wood or composite paddles. It is easy for beginners to learn, but can develop into a quick, fast-paced, competitive game for experienced players.” The ball moves about one-third the speed of a tennis ball and Pickleball is primarily a game for doubles teams. Check out usapa.org for a video, and contact Ben Sysko at 752-5981 or firstname.lastname@example.org for more information or to register for the session.
This is important: On Monday, June 24 your YMCA will be hosting a blood drive from 1 to 6 p.m. You can schedule an appointment by calling Camille Laubach at 752-5981 or the American Red Cross at 1-800-Red-Cross (1-800-733-2767) or by visiting www.redcrossblood.org. You can also just show up on the 24. Click here Blood Drive for more information.
As always there’s a lot going on around here. So, why not check us out. Get the whole family involved because this is the place to be.
